Photoshop’s subscription-based pricing structure is often a deal-breaker, especially now that there are alternatives that can match (and sometimes exceed) many of the software’s features at a much lower cost. This can easily be solved by combining Photoshop with Bridge or Lightroom, but it comes at a cost. That is problematic for those who shoot hundreds of images at a time, such as wedding and event photographers. And, there’s no way to keep your images organized. Photoshop can’t open a raw file without processing it through Adobe Camera Raw (Adobe’s built-in raw processing plugin) first. And, since it’s the industry standard there’s a metric boatload of add-on filters and plugins. Photoshop is powerful, loaded with features, updated constantly, and has a clean and slick interface. Not only has it been around for over 30 years, but it’s so well known, that its name has become a word in pop culture that’s used to describe a photo that’s been heavily edited!
